We’re honored to feature this rare and radiant work by the late Satsuko Hamilton, a distinguished artist whose paintings reflect a life steeped in Japanese tradition and a legacy of artistic excellence. Born in Nagoya, Japan, Hamilton studied traditional flower arranging and the Tea Ceremony before moving to the U.S., where she developed a body of work focused largely on florals rendered in acrylic on canvas or paper.
An award-winning member of the Watercolor Society of Oregon, Northwest Watercolor Society, and The Watercolor Critique Group, her work is included in numerous public collections and exhibitions throughout the region.
Hamilton was also the wife of celebrated painter George Hamilton and the mother of our very own acclaimed Northwest artist Earl Hamilton—a legacy of creativity that continues to inspire.
A Place in the Sun exemplifies her delicate yet confident approach to color, balance, and form—imbued with the quiet grace that defined her career.
