Peter Layton
When Peter Layton studied ceramics at the Central School of Art and Design in London, glassmaking was yet to become an art college course. Later, while teaching in the USA, he encountered glassblowing – and was immediately captivated by the immediacy of this seductive ‘new’ medium. Some years of
transition and experiment followed, during which he joined in establishing the Glasshouse and set up the London Glassblowing Workshop which celebrates its thirtieth year in 2006.
Widely exhibited, with works in major
collections, Peter has also concentrated on large architectural commissions. Peter Layton is acknowledged as a glass artist and teacher of international repute.
