LeRoy Goertz
A native of Saskatchewan, Canada, LeRoy Goertz was educated in the American Midwest and now lives in Portland, Oregon. His works have been shown in galleries and shops throughout Oregon and many other states.
Over the course of his life, LeRoy Goertz has worked in many media. His first love was wood; he made furniture during his youth. Later wood found its way into sculptures. While he was teaching at Oregon’s school for delinquent children in the early seventies, he began to work with glass. With a torch flame, he created forms from molten glass rods and tubes. In the early 1990’s, he developed an interest in casting bronze sculptures. This in turn led to working with wire and developing techniques for creating jewelry with coiled wire. Most recently he has begun to cast precious metals for a line of sculptures to wear.
