Kazutaka Uchida

Kazutaka Uchida was born in Toyota, in Aichi Prefecture, Japan in 1948. He was graduated from the sculptural course at Tama University of Fine Arts, Tokyo, and went on to complete the sculpture course at the Ecole Des Beaux-arts, in Paris. He then returned to Japan to study environmental art with Isamu Noguchi. He has exhibited in many group exhibitions in Paris and in several cities in Japan and he has had several solo shows in Tokyo and other cities in Japan and the United States. Mr. Uchida has been particularly successful in the very competitive field of monumental public sculptures. Among his awards are the Ube Open-air Museum of Sculpture and the Gumna Museum of Modern Art Prize. He also has won the Kobe City Park Association Prize. His work is in several public museum collections, including the Open Air Museum of Sculpture, in Ube, Japan and the National Museum of Modern Art, in Paris.
