David Belien

David Belien, of the Netherlands, studied at both the Art Academy of Tilburg and The School of Applied Glass Arts in Zelezny Brod, known as the school of Libensky. He has worked his way up through several glass blowing studios in Europe, New Zealand and the U.S. to build skills and gain experience.  His work consists of mainly free blown forms in controlled shapes, combined with optical cuts and polished surfaces.  Although very architectural in appearance, the work engages the tactile sense of the viewer through the patterns and structures imparted within the glass. He is currently considered the emerging glass artist of the Netherlands and his work has recently been added to one of Europe’s more renowned glass art collections in the “Ernsting-Stiftung” museum in Germany.
