Bob Kimball

I was born in Bremerton, Washington on July 10,1956. Growing up in Poulsbo, there were only two things to do, learn how to fish and work. I did learn how to fish. Then at the age of 16, I began my working life as an apprentice for my father, who was one of the most skilled stone masons in the area. I continued being a stone mason for 30 years. However, after so many years other things began to interest me, like metal and glass.

For five years I took up glass blowing as my career. While doing that, I was able to meet a lot of people that would help me further myself in the art world, one of those people being Micajah Bienvenu. He taught me how to manipulate the metal-bending and shaping until it’s just right, like the metal fish. Since I had been fishing my whole life, making fish out of metal came naturally for me. Recently, I have been combining both the art of metal and the art of glass, to make unique fish.
