I studied at the University of Wisconsin in Madison at Eau Claire majoring in painting. I was a potter for 18 years and made everything from traditional dinnerware to puzzle pots and sporting trophies. As the son of a naval officer I have lived in many locals including Virginia, Florida, Minnesota, California, Colorado, Montana and now here in Oregon. After living in Montana for nearly 20 years, my increasing appreciation of our environment compelled me to devote my artistic endeavors exclusively to landscape painting. As a ski instructor, coach, racer and outdoor enthusiast I spent extensive time in the hills studying Montana’s diverse landscapes Although my university studies were extremely beneficial, experience, the act of doing, looking and studying previous and contemporary masters have served as my greatest teacher of all.
