Micajah Bienvenu was born May 13, 1963 in Cambridge,
Massachusetts. He is alumni of Whitman College and has
been making metal sculptures for 20 years. Using
various metalworking techniques from repousse to 3-D
rendering he creates his one-of-a-kind fabricated metal
sculptures. Working in stainless steel, copper and
bronze he coaxes impossible forms, both representational and
abstract, from standard sheet metal. Micajah is
represented by galleries around the country and his work has
been collected both nationally and internationally for many
years. In his representational work he has fabricated
everything from obscure coelacanths, octopuses, and llamas
to sea horses, blue herons, eagles and anadromous fish of
the West Coast. His current focus is on large mobile
and stable abstract sculptures. |
